New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is in search of a Medical Billing Specialist, who would perform a variety of billing and administrative tasks including: answering phones, set up payment plans, posting patient and insurance payments, insurance verification, and follow up on past due accounts.

What we do: New Vitae Wellness and Recovery has been providing services for 35 years, our company integrates behavioral health and/or addiction services with residential options to deliver individualized, compassionate care.  We provide comprehensive residential treatment, young adult services, addiction services, supportive apartment living, and outpatient services.  We serve veterans.

What you’ll do: 

  • Answering incoming calls from residents’ family & face to face consultation with patients.
  • Set up payment plans, maintain & monitor resident accounts.
  • Handle new admissions and EVS checks and advise best plan to suit resident needs
  • Prepare admission packages/contracts,
  • Verification of insurance coverage & benefits
  • Patient & insurance account follow up
  • Posting cash/checks received from payers
  • Processing credit card payments
  • Effectively manage aging of accounts receivables
  • Follow up to see if a claim is accepted or denied
  • Investigate & handle rejected/unpaid claims
  • Handle single case agreements
  • Create & manage residential billing including mentoring charges and allowances
  • Handle and manage pharmacy invoices to the resident’s family or rep payee
  • Contact insurance companies to conclude payment on denied claims
  • Assists in patient collection letter inquiries and calls
  • Utilize company’s contract summaries to verify balances due on disputed claims and/ or partially paid claims
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and/ or manager to discuss challenges or billing obstacles as well as to provide status of outstanding aging reports

  • REQUIRED- 3 or more years medical billing/collections experience
  • PREFERRED– Electronic billing experience, prior experience with single case agreements/veterans, good knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-9 coding, 837/835/270/271 processes
